The Karachi Kids – A Rescue from Madrassa

“A breeding ground for terrorists.” ,“University of Jihad.” Those are just some of the phrases used to described the Pakistani madrassa system, a network of Islamic schools where children as young as six are taught to memorize every verse and phrase of the Koran. The Karachi Kids takes the viewer behind the shrouded curtain of a Pakistani madrassa to show a world of abuse, loneliness and transformation into radical Islam. Read more

Looks like every Mawalee can now get fame and fortune by writing against the Ulema and the Madrassah.

This Mawalee couldn’t find something solid so he had to use special effects to distort the image of Madrassahas.

People like him are the reason behind the global equations
"Muslim = Terrorist" or more than that "Pakistani Muslim = Terrorist"

Its sad to see children being robbed of their innocence and childhood in such a despicable manner by maulvi’s.

Yeh Pakistan ke maulvi bhi kya zaalim makhlooq hain. Inse to insaan khud bhi bache or aulaad ko bhi bacha ke rakhe.

First of all it was sad to see this documentary and come to accept that this is going on in the city where i was born. It was much worse to read the ignorant and brainwashed comments that followed. Nobody is trying to distort the image of anymore. Truth is just bitter sometimes. We here try to explain to others that Islam is a religion of peace, love and humanity while you prove us wrong. Then at the end of the day, each one of you is dying to land in this country. Pakistan as a nation, as a country, has to accept that extreme and severe problems plague the country. I don’t blame the entire downfall of Pakistan on radical Islam. The politicians who’ve been sucking the blood out of innocence play an equally important role. Pakistanis were dying to get a PURE democratic government. Elected by them for them and now see what is the outcome they’ve been so dying to achieve. Go ask a pure, honest and hardworking citizen what he really wanted?

who is brainwashed you or the others?

You find the Madrassahas the problem and you comment as if otherwise the CITY of Karachi is very holy. The city where you come from (you sound from Karachi) is the place where SECULARISTS LIKE MQM and PPP and ANP have played bloody games, time and time again.

Yes, this holy city has seen worse of crimes committed in the name of Panjabi, Pathan, Sindhi and Muhajir Qaum Parasteee.

I haven’t witnessed these Madrassahs to be wiping out Christian Missionary Schools or Hindu Mandirs or even Qadiani places of Worships. These kind of madrassah’s have been in Karachi for decades, yet we see the minorities in Karachi still enjoying the same freedom as any other Muslim enjoys.

As one said earlier… the shortest way to get funding and fame is to cry against Islam and Mawalees like this guy and Salman Rushdee will get awards of Knighthood and what not.

definitely unlike you i will defend my city. you haven’t mentioned PML-N so im guessing your a paindoo and paindoos dont think with logic. Cowards dont start war in their own backyards. So i think this should answer your questions. Second of all you talk about SECULARITIES like a pro as if you were born with the masterplan and you know who is the criminal and so much hatred against MQM. MQM did not start these differences and the concept of provincialism.Bholes like you did.

Madrassas have been in KHI for decades. Yes. But the ideology has changed. Zia brought the plague from Afghanistan and the weeds are blooming now. Its about time that Muslims of South Asia stop blaming their pathetic downfall on others and accept their mistakes which the paindoos wont do so its gonna take another 60 years to get this mentality out of people. grow up ppl.

Dude, thats the problem with you guys. When someone comes with an opposing view you start to call him Paindoo, jamatee, agency and what not. Just to clarify your percetption, I am a Muhajir, born and rasied in Karachi. If it still doesn’t help you, nothing can and I don’t need a certificate of being a Muhajir from you.

So before Zia ul Haq, the Muslims were living with honor and grace? and Zia’s *Idealogy* brought that honor and grace down? You sound more like a Peepla than a MQM thug. Besides the people who oppose MQM, term MQM as the GIFT of ZIA-UL-HAQ. Why do you take some of the gifts and reject the others :) LOLLLL.

If MQM came into existence as a reaction to others(Panjabi, Pathan, Sindhi) actions then why you deny the same for the Muslms? Why can’t they react to oppression?

I will not try to be your daddy and give you all the lessons in history, but just go and read the history of Palestine.

Mate, I think my reply to this post wud be quite appropriate as sadly i am one of those who dont practice Islam and living in the UK in a totally non-Islamic environment. what is it that u mean when u say RADICAL ISLAM or call some one a FUNDAMENTELIST? or what does the term MODERD MUSLIM means?? i guess, no-body can be a MUSLIM on the planet earth, unless he follows the FUNDAMENTALS OF ISLAM, this the basic rule, not just for any religion, but for any thing you do. You go to your work place and FOLLOW THE FUNDAMENTALS else, bye-bye to ur job. If some-one is a fundamentalist then the right word for him wud be a TRUE MUSLIM or MOMIN. If you as a person are blamed for causing damage, being insulted, humiliated all around then ur retaliation or aggressive reactive is OBVIOUS, if you r a normal human in today’s world, but ths is justified to u, coz its U who is suffering. America reacted aggressively to 9/11 incident and still is, but they are fighting a war on terror and thier cause have been justified globally. If islam teaches the same, then its called RADICAL ISLAM. Mate. grow up ! if you and me are not good muslims then we should accept it and ask for forgiveness from Allah and not to justify our selves by calling us MODERN MUSLIM, a term which doesnt even exist in Islam. U r a Muslim or not a muslim and there no such thing as MODERN MUSLIM.
I bet you you have a very limited knowledge abt Islam, people who dont even know who to pray properly comment and make videos on Islam. Face the reality man, accept ur sins, and find the true path. If we were to be in long pony tails, pierced ear, wierd beards, watching tv and listenin to music all day, doing what eva we want to, then wot was the point of creating a relgion, if we were to same as others?? y Islam then??
temme one thing tht differentiate u from a non-muslim apart from ur name and u being circumsized??

  9. Adnan Siddiqi (adnansiddiqi) on July 27th, 2008 @ 6:10 pm

@SWHussain: I believe you are better than me and other Muslims who do claim that they are holier and love to label themselves as "Good Muslim" yet have no idea about what’s Islam all about.

Bravo to you. You are blessed. May Allah guide you. Keep it up

Alright.. i am tired of all this…

Go to the website and enlighten yourselves

This is that Binori Town Madrassa, just across the street. The ICG report says it is the fountainhead of Deobandi militancy countrywide. It also boasts close ties to the Taliban. Intelligence sources tell CNN that is the school where Osama bin Laden spoke before 9/11, it’s not the school the boys went to.

Did the documentary filmmaker spend three years working on his film at the wrong madrassa? We asked the U.S. State Department what it knows about the school the boys attended, the answer, it is known to U.S. officials as a moderate institution, favored by Pakistani- Americans for its moderate and tolerant Islamic instruction.

It is quite shocking to see this video which serves us as a grim reminder where are we going as a nation. Brainwashing of young kids in madarsa system has already created severe problems in FATA and NWFP. This threat has to be stopped before it becomes another headache like Lal Masjid. It is time for all of us to wake to this challenge and play our part (not politics) as a good citizen to stop rise of extremism in our society.

  13. Adnan Siddiqi (adnansiddiqi) on July 29th, 2008 @ 12:31 am

it’s funny that people of other sects like shias, barelvis, agha khanis etc abuse Deobandis or any other sect followers as they are saints and have no filth in their own sects.

  14. lordobsidian on July 29th, 2008 @ 1:38 am

@Adnan Siddiqui, filth is everywhere regardless of class, cast , religion or creed…who some proclaim as saints can be as bad the worst filth walking thie planet, dont generalize.

Complete agreement sometimes i have a lot of trouble explaning this concept to my wife who incidently is irish, she also had a lot of trouble on her last visit to Pak land simply because she chose to marry me, our society is dissolving rapidly into chaos, i remember a moderate modern and very tolerant pakistan that practiced tolerance because of religion, i bet the Quaid is currently crying tears watching us all, what a mockery we have made of his vision.

Makes me sad about my country.

In the entire act of evil exposition, the Muslim’s blaring at large is the evidences to conceal the truthfulness and assist to falsehood on the ground of valuable factual phenomenon. Muslims do not only nuisance other religion but targeting their Muslim fellow belonging to other sector of Muslim under Mohammad’s umbrella. There believe to predestined faith is above all and claims to be genuine Muslims; a true followers of Mohammedan preach and reject all other sectors within the Muslim shade.
