Forget about hard cash being stolen out of our country, the much trumpeted KPT fountain installed in 2006 at Oyster Rocks a few hundred yards off the Clifton beach has simply disappeared. It was built at a whopping Rs. 320 Million of tax-payers money and was alleged to be one of the highest water fountains in Asia shooting a spurt of water to over 500-feet

KPT admitted a week back that it was indeed stolen and has consequentially registered an FIR complaining that 22 essential parts of the fountain have gone missing. But what was interesting to note that in their over efficiency (or foul play) they claim to have already handed the repair work contract to M/S Hydro Diesel Company of Holland and M/S MTU Germany according to a Dawn report.

Federal Minister for Ports and Shipping Babar Khan Ghouri on Wednesday said that the Karachi Port Trust Fountain, the world’s second largest, had been built by the government for the poor people of the country who could not afford to visit Switzerland for rest and recreation.

Our Switzerland worth 320 million got stolen? that sucks..

Its quite obvious why MQM is eager and interested in ministry of port and shipping once again. Potential(to make money) in this ministry is too much. Projects like Worlds largest fountain(which shockingly worked only 5 months and remained nonfunctional rest of the year), World largest tower(KPT tower 1947 feet?) , controversial coastal developments (Emaar projects) , PNSC building’s fire and its repair and contracts etc . MQM really enjoyed making more money than it could ever make with its bhathakhori(extortion operations) even in 100 years(from a street criminal to an international bhathakhor (Extortionist).. That’s quite a transition.

i have no words for express my thoughts after reading your comments regarding Karachi owned Switzerland! :P
    101% agree with u

  3. kaami on November 5th, 2008 @ 11:38 pm

My dear D0CTOR the ministry of Ports & Shipping belongs to Mr. Gabol now.
Whatever you say about Babar Ghori and MQM. They have delivered!. They gave effective ministers, who did real work, rather than rely on secretaries and collect applications from hordes of political workers.
KPT anfd CDGK in partnership removed a lot of red tape, making many projects possible which immensely benefited the city with visible results..

As for the theft, it’s a trend set by the return of the two biggest thieves that this nation has produced, thanks to the untiring efforts by the media, lawyers and the fanatics.

My Dear kaami, i have pasted the link in my comment, its quite obvious why MQM ( Ministries Qub Milaay-gi? )is quite eager to bag those old lucrative ministries like communications(NHA,Sher Shah bridge,Tenders,Contracts), housing and works ( Another 450 Billion land scam? ) , ports and shipping(Baber Ghauri),petroleum and natural resources(Billions of $).

  5. kaami on November 6th, 2008 @ 12:44 am

So what? I don’t mind. Lucrative or not, I see visible change and that’s enough for me. MQM ministers are not heavenly bodies, they are elected representatives i.e. from the people and as far as recent track record is concerned, the best of the lot in terms of public service, hard work and dedication. Of course, there must have been leakages, that holds true for even in the developed countries, where lucrative ministries are in high demand. Pakistan is not a country of angels, it’s a country where moulvi’s pocket the zakat for the destitute, doctors don’t operate unless paid in advance, lawyers milk the poor and police rapes the victim.

  6. kaami on November 6th, 2008 @ 12:51 am

To add to the above. For the first time I saw KPT funds being spent on the city which hosts it. I dont need to name the projects. also KPT did become more efficient and profitable, despite the access baggage it carries thanks to PPP’s catastrophic hiring tendencies and staff deputation from Navy.

  7. d0ct0r on November 6th, 2008 @ 1:38 am

And if you didn’t noticed i was just giving credit to Babar Khan Ghouri for giving us a 320 million semi functional Switzerland right here in Karachi.

    kaami on November 6th, 2008 @ 12:51 am
despite the access baggage it carries thanks to PPP’s catastrophic hiring tendencies

ah well excess baggage reminds me of fresh news. PPP’s Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Sherry Rehman today announced that all those hired during ppp’s previous govts and laid off by sucssive govts would be restored and reinstated along with their seniority list and back wages(of all these years when they were not working) and benefits(compensation). Except for CJ restore every one(with their seniority intact),She’ll even be willing to restore those sacked after Bhutto Senior’s era..

    kaami on November 6th, 2008 @ 12:44 am
    So what? I don’t mind.

When i say MQM burnt several karachiites alive , MQM supporter also respond with similar remarks,’ so what we don’t mind, at least we got underpasses and bridges’. So what should i call it, a carrot and stick policy ? little bit of terrorism little bit of bhathakhori(extortion) and little bit of development.. all going on at the same time.

  9. d0ct0r on November 6th, 2008 @ 2:16 am

Imagine notorious Rehman Dakait (Who manages to run away every time police captures him) saying kill 4 , loot another 9 and also make a 8 bed hospital/dispensary for poor people of Lyari.. Would that somehow make him respectable person in society? Same is the case with Altaf . 100 more Bridges and Underpasses and 1 event like 9th april and he still remains nothing more then a friggin’ criminal on the run.

  10. shoaib on November 6th, 2008 @ 2:22 am

Interesting analysis. If we take your analysis then it means that the Party made by Zani-e-Azam was wrong. Tehreek-e-Insaaf. If a person cannot give insaaf to his daughter, how come he can give insaaf to others, am I right?.

  11. barristerakc on November 6th, 2008 @ 6:40 am

PTI = Phaktoon Taliban Imbeciles clique should be thrown out of this city – they are becoming “fitnas” and nothing more. Insh’Allah time will come – soon!

  12. d0ct0r on November 6th, 2008 @ 10:36 am

Although that 8 beded hospital/dispensary will be welcomed and celebrated by Lyariites they’ll also say ‘SO WHAT? ‘ when they’ll be reminded that Rehman Dakait is a notorious criminal involved in henious crimes against karachiites BUT in the eyes of law and in the eyes of Karachiites Rehman Dakait would remain a criminal on the run absconding from justice.

I am totally agree with Dr. Babar Khan Ghori sucks….. these people of Liaqatabad belogs to gang of 9 0….. gangsters became respected citizens now lolzzz…. thanks to Mazloomon Ka SATHI :D ya that’s SATHI used too much by ppl lolzzz

I heard 2 years back that Babar Khan Ghori said on a local TV channel that under Mai Kolachi bridge it’ll be a FOOD STREET and daily I pass through Mai Kolachi bridge but that project never completed. i dont know how much money they are making from that project, we the Tax Payers of karachi want to ask those gangsters that when they will stop earning money like this….??

  15. barristerakc on November 6th, 2008 @ 10:25 pm

It’s a fact that under the leadership of Babur Ghouri, Admiral (retd) Naqvi (another Urdu Speaking Man) and Haider Abbas Rizvi (our very own MNA) who was in charge of the auditing and sat as one of the Board of Directors at PNSC transformed PNSC into a money making machine as compared to PNSC of Nawaz Sharif times (Rs 469 million in 1998-99 – showed as losses). A. F. Ferguson & Co is PNSC’s charted accountants.

MQM contribution to KPT is amazing and another success story and proof of the competence and hard work of MQM Ministers as compared to dumb-ass passer-e-zameen.

Some of the mega projects competed by MQM government are:

    I) LNG Terminal II) Coal Terminal III)Cruise Terminal IV) International Container Terminal V)Deep Water Container Port VI) Deepening of Channel

Awab’s post is if MQM stole the equipment – it’s shameful and degrading (although he will deny it as usual). Shame, Shame…

BTW, the stolen stuff are as follows:

    Equipment list which are stolen

    Description Quantity

    1. Both Pump Engines Batteries 12V, 210AH 4

    2. Both Generator Batteries 12V, 155AH 2

    3. Welding Plant 440/220 VA/C/400AMP 1

    4. Raceprocating pump Motor double belt 220VAC, 1HP 1

    5. Bracket Fan 18”(Plastic Body) 220VA/C 2

    6. Ladder 20 M/S Material 1

    7. Self starter of MTU Engine with Cable 1

    8. Tool Boxes with complete tools 3

Well it was about the fountain which MQM built, which was functioning, like the countless beautiful things that they have done for this city, that are also functioning 9as mentioned by barrister sahib), unless the returning thieves ( courtesy of our media and lawyers) sell them off one by one.

MQM has given this country / city bright young, energetic leadership in the form off Haider Rizvi, Mustafa Kamal, Wasey Jalil and many others who will serve their electorate well into the future. However, it should not get complacent, and should maintain its rigid stance towards Mr. Full of sh!t Crackpot Laden and his team. This city has no place for international criminals and terrorists and their local sympathisers who deal in blood / death and are incapable of building anything. A deterrent force, fully supported by the people is required, otherwise they will again turn this cleaned up city into a terrorist hub.

What bhatta khor and Khori?…The people of this city including the Business Communities are fully behind their elected representatives despite whatever foolish choices the rest of the country makes when they go to the polls.

You mentioned Information Ministers latest announcement about re-instatement of the useless lot hired by past PPP govts with full compensation. All I can say Bhugtou!. When a nation doesn’t want a straight talking honest guy at the top, who was taking the country forward despite the humps and the bumps, then you get what you deserve.

This is a perfect example of "BAD PRESS"

The one Pakistan has been facing for last 6 years or so !

""Karachi—The Port Fountain (i.e. the KPT Fountain) was not stolen as it has been built by Karachi Port Trust with a massive structure of reinforced steel and cement concrete and contains huge engine driven pumps, pipes and other installations.

Commenting on a news items published in section of press, KPT spokesman said only few appliances including some tools were stolen out of the main pump house and hence resulted in temporary suspension of fountain operations. Internal enquiry has been completed and is being processed. Staff responsible has been directed to appear before the police investigation, the spokesman added."

  20. d0ct0r on November 7th, 2008 @ 6:45 pm

As i said earlier in that example like lyariites would welcome and celebrate that hospital even though it would be made by a notorious criminal on the run, same is the case here, Karachiites should welcome and celebrate all the developments but that does not change the status of that clown hiding in London,he remains nothing but a criminal on the run.

  21. d0ct0r on November 7th, 2008 @ 6:50 pm

MQM UC nazim, 15 MQM men arrested for ‘involvement’ in two murders, riots\11\07\story_7-11-2008_pg7_38

15 MQM activists held in double murder case

Seems like MQM has again resumed its terrorist activities . Wish list for Favorite ministries isn’t approved yet so it seems the money and finances are drying up so MQM has resorted its typical roles of terrorist and street criminal harassing and murdering Karachiites

  22. kaami on November 7th, 2008 @ 8:55 pm

    @DOCTOR & Others

Chirtee kyoun ho meri jaan…. MQM does not need yours or KMB certificate, its strength lies in the people, and as long as the people think that they are delivering, they will be strong and if they loose that support they will perish. It is as simple as that.

There is no doubt that some very prominent thieves have returned to the promised land, hence, people who can fix and build have taken a back seat, thanks to the sense less movement mongers, media hawks and B teams of Osama. The public / private enterprises that were sick, dead or non-existent in the nineties namely: The Banks, KPT, PNSC, CBR, Steel Mills, Cement / Construction, Telecom, Customs / Revenue, Gawadar Port, PASSCO, State Bank, Science & Technology, Higher Education, OGDC, NADRA, immigration & Passport and countless others were made profitable, customer focussed and far more efficient in the Mush era. Sadly, now is the time to loot them, burden them with hiring / transfers and eventually run them to the ground.

So who will be responsible? Yes, the foolish idealists, and those who voted for un-warranted change.

MQM does not need yours or KMB certificate

Nobody needs to issue any kinda certificate to MQM(Media is already doing a great job).. The News that i pasted about MQM’s UC Nazim and 15 MQM workers booked for murder and roits is a fresh news (7th November 2008) .

MQM will continue to burn,Murder and loot Karachiites .

While Media will continue doing a great job of exposing MQM’s henious crimes and criminal leadership despite being intimidated, death threats faxed directly from MQM’s terrorist headquater NineZero ,beaten and their channels taken off air.

While you and your likes would continue to defend MQM’s unjustifiable terrorism and heinous crimes .

I remember you well. Aren’t you the same religious lunatic who applauded and rejoiced at the lyinching of a Pakistani citizen by the name of Jagdesh Kumar in Karachi for alleged blesphemy by a mob which acted as a judge, jury and executioner??? May be Altaf talked in India about what is going on in Pakistan in the name of religion by the Alambardars, Thekedars and Nambardars of Islam!!!

Sir, you may infer my answer to your question from the following anecdote:

Some time back I lost my dog and went to the police station to report the theft. The SI on duty after listening to my report said politely with a strange kind of smile on his face. "Sir, in this country lot of humans have gone missing and nobody could trace them and you expect us to trace your dog for you."

  37. hamid on November 16th, 2008 @ 4:13 am

Let’s not divide. We are already fragmented enough to defend ourselves if a need ever arose. Sindhi, Punjani, Mahajir, Pashtune, Baloch, MQM, JI, JUI, Green Topi (whatever that is), Red topi, PP, ANP, XYZ etc etc etc… Having opinion is healthy but if they turn into insults to each other then it is a huge waste. I live in USA and envy these people how they are united even though their religion, color, national origin is different. They don’t even have a power uniting force like Islam. How sad.
Sorry, it is not meant to be a lecture. You all are much smarter than I am. I apologize if sounded like one.

In my opinion, for most the part, they mind their own business and respect each others opinions and affiliations. Besides, life is so busy to have meaningless arguments.

  40. Custom Water Fountains (unregistered) on November 1st, 2010 @ 4:45 pm

water fountains can be used in a wide variety of ways in commercial applications too. They can be set up as free standing indoor fountains and used to create “rooms” within a large open space, or to block the view from certain areas. Fountains can be placed up against a wall, to look like a wall fountain in your home .
