Gulshan-e-Iqbal ATM Robbery

You have to “appreciate” the ease with which they performed their “duty”. Found this video of an ATM branch caught on tape.

I am furious and disgusted to see all this happening and nobody seems to care about this, i feel sorry for poor old men, and demand govt to compensate his losses.

Police department is a bunch of lousy corrupt people; it’s a high time to hand this department to CDGK as well.

That innocent old man remained composed in that dangerous situation and the best thing is that he didn’t get hurt – but will he ever see his money again? Will these criminals will ever be caught and brought to justice?

This kind of things happen in many countries around the world but in Pakistan these criminals rob the innocent people with the greatest ease and they hardly ever get caught, this is what really pisses me off.

    Sorry for the old man……..
When the CCTV was monitoring all this stuff..and i think it was being seen by the securty incharge .why wasnt the ATM machine Surrounded by guards….at once……????

  6. fasee on March 25th, 2009 @ 9:45 pm

    Wht habib bank

Kabhi bank nahee gai kiya…mono gram bank al habib ka hai….its one of the most pethetic bank I have dealt with in my life

Normally ATM have one glass door opening inside…with a guard taking a peek or on. CCTV….but after seeing this…fasee won’t go to ATM like he do at 2 at night

  8. balma on March 25th, 2009 @ 10:10 pm

And, may I ask, bit superficial I know, is the guy in the beard – the victim – being referred to as an old man? He looks young to me!

poor guy….thts hard earned money!! and this was the reason my family left Pakistan and more people will continue to move out if there is no rule of law, law and order, basic rights…etc.

Wouldn’t it help to install button controlled doors in ATM room so that they can only be unlocked from inside when its occupied, i’ve seen it at one Bank Al Habib branch but it was non functional.

Or maybe a weapon detector linked with alarm might help. there are sophisticated cameras which can detect no. of persons in view. Or maybe i should stop dreaming and wakeup!

Well… after looking this clips i would say that there should be some restriction on rewarding diffrent amount in the same hour

  16. fasee on March 27th, 2009 @ 11:29 am

    @ first officer..

the most ingenious, effective and inteligent procedure i have seen is at bank al ahabib in korangi..where i used to work some yrs ago….

they close there ATM after 5 as they can not gurantee the security of the clients…

  17. Tariq Khanani (tariqkhanani) on March 27th, 2009 @ 1:18 pm

ATM withdrawals should be insured by bank by default, as it is the bank’s responsibility to deliver the client’s money to the client safely. Still dreaming!

  18. fasee on March 27th, 2009 @ 2:15 pm

    @ Tariq bhai.

uth jao subah hu gai hai……bank ne theka nai le rakha saray social evil khatam kerna ka.

there sole responsibilkity is to take care of your money and make it grow…..once its in your hands its your baby dude….so stop blaming others and get more planed and proactive……either pay by credit cards or debit cards at market…..or withdraw money by cheques….or pay by cross cheques.

fasee has stoped using his ATM cards some years ago….per ab bhi kabhi kabhi late night 2 bajay josh ata hai tu chlay jatay hain…1-2 hazar niklanay…..ya balance malom kernay….but not anymore..after watchign this vid

  19. dexter on March 27th, 2009 @ 7:12 pm

how about having two accounts and one linked with ATM should always have <5K or so ! (depending on earning power)

  20. Tariq Khanani (tariqkhanani) on March 27th, 2009 @ 8:54 pm

withdrawal by cheque cannot be looted, how so??? debit cards… plz we have still a long way to go before they get that common

    ??? *scratches head*

  21. dexter on March 28th, 2009 @ 12:58 am

ATM cards generally do have a limit of 25K per 24hrs, but for many people it is a lot of money … so "a" (and not "THE") solution is to keep two accounts … one from where you can only withdraw money in person and other connected to ATM and stuff , and then in account # 2 keep only that much amount of money that you can afford to lose

The drawback is you may not be able to get all the money in case of emergency, but the benefit is you will not lose more than (say) 5K in such an incident

  22. fasee on March 28th, 2009 @ 9:44 am

    @ TK.

sir cheque withdrawl has the option of surprise….not everybody that goes inside comes out with cash… the guy outside has a 33% chance out of Cash deposit/ Cash withdrawl / Gen Inquiries wali awaam…

but in case of ATM 100 % of visitors are coming out wiith you are a sitting duck

thridly….i usualy hide most of the cash in my undergarments when i come out…..witha few thousand in front pocket….so still its safe unless he checks me out you know where ;)

as for being a long way to debit card…sir i dont know if you live in karachi or what….but 75-80 % of public now owns ATELAST 1 debit or credit card…thanks to Banks who issue ATM to every account holder…and Credit card comapnies who throw cards at you like hell.

  26. بستنی (wasiq) on March 29th, 2009 @ 8:27 pm

@fasee…I kinda like the way thug looks at the ATM/slip…and definitely don’t like the victim who holds both ends of his shirt(jholi) and look up in the camera after the thugs have left…??????

    Ps:is this a university toilet….why don’t they have a lock or latch.
