The country is faced with the most challenging natural disaster, the recent floods have rendered more than 14 million people homeless. Thousands of which only a couple of ours drive away form our own city Karachi. And since a lot of small groups from Karachi, mostly students from various university are heading out to the various areas of Sindh here is a very useful blog post by Sana Saleem of FLP which explains what items are urgently needed to more effectively and efficiently help the flood affected people here in Sindh, and more specifically in Thatta.

I cannot confirm or say with confidence….but condition is really bad….kisi ko bhi nahein janey dey rahey hain….A breach in the embankment of Keerthar Canal has endangered Larkana and areas including Rato Dero and Garhi Khuda Bukhsh …isn’t that the most shameful thing…here they can’t even control the canal….and we were expecting them to control the high flood river…Oh God !

With the worst flooding in the country in decades and over 1000 people dead as a result come the next part of the disaster cycle- infectious diseases.
With villages decimated and crops destroyed, thousands of Pakistanis are now flooding rescue centers for many reasons- one being medical assistance.
According to medical personnel on the ground, most patients are suffering from waterborne diseases, gastric problems, chest infections and skin complaints. The cause of these diseases is mainly dirty flood water.
Diseases like cholera, amoebiasis and other diarrheal diseases will likely increase as clean drinking water becomes scarcer.

sir the best way to acoide gastro is to drink only nestle (fake mineral) bottled water, provided as total mufta by poeple who spent there hard earned money on it
as I said I cannot confirm anything….all I can say is that PAF airplane ,cargo or fighter jets have not …I repeat..have not flown over my head for the past couple of days….PIA is almost grounded…..there could be a no fly-zone …..
